On the Côte d’Azur, the hotel is just a 45-minute drive or short helicopter transfer from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.
History
The hotel, which belongs to IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has a long and eventful history that began as early as 1909. The construction was initiated by Duke Michael of Russia, grandson of the then Tsar. After Henri Ruhl and the architect Charles Damas took over, the hotel opened its doors in 1913. For over 100 years, the Calton has been a landmark on the Côte d’Azur and it is impossible to imagine Cannes without it.
Between Tradition and Modernity
With a total of 332 rooms – 72 with sea views – 52 suites and 37 branded residences, guests at the Carlton can enjoy every minute of their stay. Each room boasts tranquil hues, high ceilings and handmade fabrics, as well as the modern luxuries you need for a truly relaxing stay. The hotel was temporarily closed to focus completely on the renovation. This important task, was left to Tristan Auer, a renowned interior designer.
However, his Riviera Restaurant is the most famous meeting place on the Croisette, having hosted numerous celebrities over the decades. It is just the place for an unforgettable meal. Elsewhere, guests can choose between a relaxed afternoon tea or morning pastry at the Camelia Tea Lounge, a drink on the cigar terrace, elegant cocktails and champagne bottles at Bar58 or French-Italian dishes and chic 1950s ambience at the Carlton Beach Club Restaurant.
