He has pledged to spend $2 billion over the next five years on clean energy research and development to combat the escalating climate crisis. He has also backed a project called CarbonCure, which captures carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and injects it into concrete, effectively sequestering it. Gates is also a public advocate of nuclear power as a reliable, scalable and emission-free source of energy. He co-founded TerraPower, a company dedicated to developing advanced nuclear reactors to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
